There are no extensions or scripts that I have installed to handle the backlight. I did not include acpi_backlight=vendor as a kernel parameter at the same time as i915.enable_dpcd_backlight=1. The only kernel parameters currently are "i915.enable_dpcd_backlight=1 quiet splash". Should I try both
