On a fully up to date install of Ubuntu focal, I confirmed that the bug still existing using the current version gnome-shell-extension- appindicator/33.1. I then installed and tested the new version gnome- shell-extension-appindicator/33.1-0ubuntu0.20.04.1 and can confirm the bug no longer occurs

Hello Paul, or anyone else affected, Accepted gnome-shell-extension-appindicator into focal-proposed. The package will build now and be available at https://launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/gnome-shell-extension- appindicator/33.1-0ubuntu0.20.04.1 in a few hours, and then in the -proposed repository.

The journalctl output is very verbose and contains all my system information, do you really want and need all that or is there a particular section? Below is a portion that mentions app indicator. If I lock my screen, then unlock, the output includes a few additional lines but nothing about
