I am testing with the new Ubuntu 20.04, although I got similar problems
with 18.04 in the past.

I have always been jealous of Microsoft Windows systems in this respect:
enable an option with the mouse, and remote desktop works straight away
with very few issues. On Linux, I have always had problems in this area.

I tried installing xrdp, like some websites suggest. This throws up the
infamous "Could not acquire name on session bus" error message, and
causes problems all over the place.

Further problem description and technical details are here:

package

There is a similar issue recorded here, but that seems related to chrome
remote desktop:

Is there an alternative to get remote desktop working with little pain?
Hopefully without editing configuration files etc. I heard that there is
something called X2Go, which is allegedly slow and buggy.

** Affects: xrdp (Ubuntu)
     Importance: Undecided
         Status: New
