I haven't seen it since, so there's no reason why this can't be closed.
Worrying that it happened, as it could have had nasty consequences, but
it seems stable since.

Out of curiosity, I launched Adept Updater again and there are now no
packages marked for removal, but quite a few more marked for upgrade.
Possibly some strange transient problem?
