Hello Timo. I have been provided the following materials from the Intel O/S group and require some assistance in how to deploy it to my environment: https://patchwork.freedesktop.org/series/82308/ Can you please provide me instructions on how to apply above test patch? guess that's fine, next would be to file it upstream to Intel.. [Bug 1893820] Re: DPLL2 override remains enabled after warm boot of Linux
Hello Timo. I completed my testing using the generic_5.8.0 (2020-08-25 05:38) and generic_5.9.0 (current/2020-09-15 02:44) kernel files that you linked me. The steps I used were as follows: 1. Download the kernel files (linux-image, linux-module) to a removable USB 2. Boot to target Ubuntu 20.04 environment using the EFI Ubuntu GRUB location 3. Copy the kernel files to the Ubuntu Desktop 4. Run "sudo dpkg -i" targeting the kernel files 5. Perform a warm reboot back into Ubuntu, followed by a device power off (Shutdown) 6. Repeat the test sequence used to show the failure, to determine if the new kernel files solves this issue a. Power on the device b. Boot to target Ubuntu 20.04 environment using the EFI Ubuntu GRUB location c. Perform a 'Restart' action in Ubuntu d. Allow the device to boot into Windows 10 (no Boot Menu selection was required, Win10 loads natively using Windows Boot Manager) e. Use the Start Menu to put the device to S3 Sleep Expected: The environment is able to enter the S3 Sleep state without issue using the new kernel files Actual: The environment experiences a WHEA_UNCORRECTABLE_ERROR BSOD event Did I perform this re-test correctly? If so, what are the next steps for this issue? Thank you. ** Attachment added: "Installing Linux Kernel Files" https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/1893820/+attachment/5411381/+files/wm_ubuntu_kernel_install.jpg -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1893820 Title: DPLL2 override remains enabled after warm boot of Linux To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/1893820/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

it's the default option to install next to windows, if it's installed on the system.. but here's one tutorial https://linuxconfig.org/how-to-install-ubuntu-20-04-alongside-windows-10 -dual-boot and yes, you need to install the kernel packages with 'sudo dpkg -i ...' after you've installed Ubuntu on the disk. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1893820 Title: DPLL2 override remains enabled after warm boot of Linux To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/1893820/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 1893820] Re: DPLL2 override remains enabled after warm boot of Linux
Hello Timo. Can you please document the steps on how to install these kernel files to the Live-USB versions of Ubuntu so that they are loaded at the time that the Live-USB is? Or do these kernel files need to be deployed as part of a Windows/Ubuntu dual-boot system where both operating systems occupy the primary hard drive and make use of a multi-OS bootloader? If the latter is required, can you please provide documentation for how I can do this while maintaining the Windows OS as the primary OS for this bug testing? Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. It seems that your bug report is not filed about a specific source package though, rather it is just filed against Ubuntu in general. It is important that bug reports be filed about source packages so that people interested in the package can find the bugs about it. You can find some hints about determining what package your bug might be about at https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Bugs/FindRightPackage. You might also ask for help in the #ubuntu-bugs irc channel on Freenode. To change the source package that this bug is filed about visit https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+bug/1893820/+editstatus and add the package name in the text box next to the word Package.
