Yeah, firefox is a little special when it comes to backtraces. It needs to be started like this: /usr/bin/firefox -g and then continue with the guide. We could also need a valgrind log and a strace, so please follow the instructions at https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Valgrind and

Hi, I'm realy happy to see, there is life on launchpad :) I have experimented today, there is still the same bug. My system is the updatet-last-week Ubuntu 8.10, Firefox and VLC Lan plugin. On the website, if I cklick on the link in menu on the left side, firefox beginns to load it and crashes.

Okay... I am unable to reproduce this. Not because it works, but because i'm unable to get the vlc plugin to respond at all... Create a new user account on your computer, and make sure the vlc plugin is installed in that account. Visit the site and see if you can reproduce the bug. If you can,
