Yeah, firefox is a little special when it comes to backtraces.
It needs to be started like this:
/usr/bin/firefox -g
and then continue with the guide.
We could also need a valgrind log and a strace, so please follow the
instructions at https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Valgrind and

I have experimented today, there is still the same bug. My system is the
updatet-last-week Ubuntu 8.10, Firefox and VLC Lan plugin. On the website, if I
cklick on the link in menu on the left side, firefox beginns to load it and
crashes.

get the vlc plugin to respond at all...
