Public bug reported:

Hi.

I'm running Debian Testing, and normally use their iceweasel package
(based on ff 2.x). However, that can be agonizingly slow with javascript
on Gmail (around 90% CPU usage for a single open google chat window, on
a 3.0 ghz Celeron CPU). So I'm trying ff3 instead, from Ubuntu. The
javascript handling is said to be much faster.

I've noticed several problems in firefox-3.0 so far:

1) I'm behind an authenticating web proxy. When I start firefox-3.0, it
wants to log into several places simulataneously (check for add-on
updates, re-open previous tabs, etc), it needs to first prompt me for my
"Software Security Device" password.

Firefox-3.0 spams me with 20-30 password boxes, instead of all the other
processes waiting for the 1st password box to finish. Debian Iceweasel
(Testing) doesn't have this problem.

2) In Gmail, chat popup windows don't have a nickname at the top
(whoever you're chatting to). There's just a "...". Iceweasel doesn't
have this problem.

David.
