Thanks for clearing that up... If i had known earlier , i would have opened a
separate bug...
Also to remind, the gnome-settings-daemon is running in my system,
but the problem seems to be that *only* rarely that the media keys are
detected...
I'll look into this again and file a

does not actually describe what problems you are having with the keys.
If there are keys that aren't working for you in Ubuntu 9.04 or karmic,
please detail which keys they are, and follow the directions at

i checked the hotkey troubleshooter, this is the result of my xev for
the keys that dont work

i checked here too , but i dont see any listing for the multimedia keys...

i think its working for oscar david ramirez, but the hotkeys[play,stop,next
previous except volume keys] are not working for my ACER ASPIRE 5672WLMi
laptop...

i have an acer aspire 5672WLMi laptop... which has all the above mentioned
keys...
i'm a noob, so i dont know how to implement the line
modprobe acerhk force_series=6000
am i supposed to run the command in the terminal??

well that was exactly what i did... ran the command as root...
but i'm not sure what happened... now my rhythom box doesnt recognize my
play/pause , next , previous , stop buttons!!!
i'm not sure if it was the upgrade to ubuntu 8.10 or if it was the
