I am running into the same issue. When I look at the Squeezecenter logs
(var/log/Squeezecenter), it seems the connection to the MySQL server is
not working [Can't connect to local MySQL server through socket
'/var/lib/squeezecenter/cache/squeezecenter-mysql.sock' (2)].

I got the slimserver connection sorted it was in /etc/default/slimserver
I had to comment out the following:-
# Set this to zero to disable slimserver startup.
START=1
# This limits http access to the local host.
# Comment it out for network-wide access, or change
# to enable a single
