Oops - just talked with the kernel team, and it appears that recent
kernel versions to have persistent USB devices across suspend/resume. :)
So this bug should be fixed already in jaunty. If you find otherwise,
please reopen the bug report.

Ubuntu.
This is not a bug in acpi-support, but a fundamental detail of how
suspend works on USB. Because the USB is powered down in S3 mode, when
the kernel comes up again the USB is rescanned and the drive comes up
with a
