This bug is still present in Hardy 8.04.2, which I am still running as it is a long-term support release. My graphics card is an ATI Technologies Inc Rage Mobility M3 AGP 2x and I'm using Open GL Messa GLX Indirect 1.4 (2.1 Mesa 7.0.3-rc2). I have xserver-xorg-video-vesa version 1:1.3.0-4ubuntu4 (although I'm not entirely sure that my computer is using it). I found that the system monitor was fine when I first installed Hardy on 2008-04-28 but subsequently this bug caused the corrupted graphics on the system monitor sometime between then and 2008-05-31. Further to previous... no problems with a clean re-install of xubuntu 8.04... I have the same problem... installed Ub 8.1 from scratch from a downloaded install CD. Didn´t have the same problem with Ub8.04 installed upgraded to Ub8.1 through internet... Just found out that this doesn't happen with compiz enabled (neither with gtk nor emerald decorator), but only with metacity...
