After one week of testing with the RC/final release of Hardy, my
experience is that the problem now occurs only (app.) 10% of the time,
which is a progress when compares with what was happening with the beta
version.

After this morning update and various resume from suspend, it seems that
the problem has been fixed. I'll wait to see if it's a "permanent fix"
before closing this report.

This issue also appeared on my Fujitsu amilo pi 1536 after latest
upgrade. I upgraded from gutsy to alpha to beta. The connection
information which is available in the context menu of the applet is also
giving information about the wrong connection. The output of dmesg
networkManager seems normal t
Well, after last night update, things are still not working, i.e. the
cable connection icon is displayed after resuming from suspend, instead
of the wireless connection one.

After the latest update (still in Hardy Beta), things seems to be back
to normal, i.e. the right icon is now showned. I'll do some more
testing and if the problem still occurs, I'll be back with another
report.
