This problem happens to appear and disappear without any obvious reason.
I don't believe it has anything to do with the Lightning add-on, I have
encountered this bug several times despite the fact I have never had
this particular add-on. This problem happened some more times but
disappeared itself
Distro/Version: Ubuntu 9.04
Kernel: 2.6.28-18-generic
Thunderbird version: 2.0.0.23 (20090817)
Installed Add-Ons: Google Desktop, Lightning, Provider for Google Calendar, TZ
Definitions for Mozilla Calendar
Whenever I open Thunderbird, several messages in my Inbox render as
blank emails -
Update: I noticed that even though I had clicked each add-on's Disable
button and restarted Thunderbird, the Lightning add-on remained active.
After again disabling all add-ons and rebooting (when in doubt, reboot),
Thunderbird now appears to behave normally. Go figure.

header by default, so after I've clicked the + mark and then - left
to the Subject:

Also please let us know if thiws happens in IMAP only or if you see it in POP.
I am unable to reproduce with IMAP nor POP at this time i tried IMAP on pop
and IMAP also tested thnderbird-3 and thunderbird-2.0
I have no extensions in thunderbird except enigmail
