Maybe it has something to do with (EE) intel(0): Cannot support DRI
with frame buffer width 2048. Please attach the file
/etc/X11/xorg.conf.

for the Virtual resolution.

What happens if you replace Virtual with 2048 2048 and lower the
resolution so that it still fits? Does the noises still appear? Of
course an X restart is needed after the change.
