In the future you can close your own bugs by clicking the status and then
selecting Fix Released.

I'm not having the problem, but compiz still spontaneously crashes,
possibly due to CPU overload or something (It seems to follow a brief
CPU usage spike, though I have only observed this just now and wasn't
looking before)... this bug should be renamed or closed...

I managed to upgrade. I'm still getting a crash issue, though I've not
thoroughly investigated, nor was I looking for the tooltips in the first
place. This bug combined with bug #231773 is a real pain.

I tried changing the compiz Visual Effects tab (Settings | Apperance)
between None, Normal and Extra visual effects. Did you try the same?
