I have arrived at the same fix, as described in this bug report:

We now know this to affect T61 as well as T61p. I believe this should be
brought to the attention of the hal-info maintainer ASAP. It mandates an
SRU.

I have a t61p with 64-bit hardy. I can confirm that setting the above
quirks to false fixes my suspend to ram (blank screen on resume).

Additional info:
"Resume not working" means: screen remains black after resume
I am using nvidia drivers (not "nv"): 169.12+2.6.24.12-16.34
But with the "nv" Xorg-driver and no nvidia module loaded it did not change
anything.
