Binary package hint: linux-image-2.6.24-17-generic
after updating to the hardy 2.6.24 kernel, the network device stops working at
least once a day.

the IP address is unchanged
route -n shows the proper information
ping returns destination failure even for local network
dmesg and /var/log/messages give no further information
I have not been able to reliable reproduce the cause
reverting to the previous gutsy kernel fixes it
This issue is on a machine that is "mission critical" for our
organization as it is our single LTSP server but i would be willing to
try any patches or updates
