The same error occurs, but '/usr/lib/gvfs/gvfsd -r' returns nothing. My steps: 1) Ran '/usr/lib/gvfs/gvfsd -r' on the command line 2) Put in two blank DVD-Rs in both my DVD-ROM and DVD-RAM drives 3) Went to 'Places Blank DVD-ROM Disc' and the same error appeared. 4) Went back to the command line

My Machine is an Ubuntu 8.04 system recently upgraded from 7.10 and I'm also having this problem. I have installed gvfs-bin and ran the requested command. It simply completed without any message. $ which gvfs-ls /usr/bin/gvfs-ls $ gvfs-ls burn: $ -- Could not open location 'burn:///'

I found a work around, I click Places - Home Folder and with Tree on the left side I can click Blank CD-R Disc. The location line even says burn:/// It just seems to be the menu entry under Places that's giving this problem. -- Could not open location 'burn:///'
