Hi Andrea,
If you go to System-Preferences-Power Management does the Set Display

Ubuntu 8.10 Intrepid Ibex Beta (Released October 2nd, 2008) has the
same problem.
Is possible to put the status of this bug to something else than
incomplete in order not to make it expire in 30days?

[To summarize, brightness control for Amilo Li 2732 worked in Ubuntu 7.x
and stopped to work in Ubuntu 8.4 and the same appens to the Alpha of
8.10]
@Leann Ogasawara:
I have tested Intrepid Ibex 8.10 (alpha5) with the new kernel and there is the
same behaviour. There is no brightness control.
The Ubuntu Kernel Team is planning to move to the 2.6.27 kernel for the
upcoming Intrepid Ibex 8.10 release. As a result, the kernel team would
appreciate it if you could please test this newer 2.6.27 Ubuntu kernel.
There are one of two ways you should be able to test:
1) If you are comfortable
I put Ubuntu 8.10 Intrepid Ibex (Alpha 4 - Released August 14th, 2008) onto
my usb memory and I booted it without problems. Even if with some dirty on
the boot screen.
Still I am not able to use the Fn+F8 and Fn+F9 keys to control my screen

@Leann Ogasawara:
there are no news about this bug. I' ve Ubuntu 8.04 and I keep it update but I
wasn't able to get the brightness control back. sorry.
As soon as I saw the new alpha of ubuntu i tried it (Alpha 4 - Released August
14th, 2008) but the only thing I got was a black screen! I waited
I am sorry I forgot the logs. Here they are.
uname -a uname-a.log
cat /proc/version_signature version.log
dmesg dmesg.log
sudo lspci -vvnn lspci-vvnn.log
Of course, as you can see, they are reports from the stable 8.04. Not
the alpha of the forthcoming new release.

There hasn't been any recent activity in this bug report and we were
wondering if this is still an issue? The Ubuntu kernel team is actively
working on the upcoming Intrepid Ibex 8.10 release. If you could please
test the latest Alpha release for Intrepid it would be much appreciated

Hi,
I installed Ubuntu 8.04 on the same computer and can't activate the wifi
interface with Fn+F1... Maybe that is related to your problem.
