Will this also be fixed for Hardy (LTS) or at least made available in
Hardy Backports?
We have several systems running on Hardy and wouldn't want to upgrade
them to Jaunty, losing out on LTS for the sake of one or two bugs that
immediately affect us. What is suggested? Are there any workarounds?
there is no stable update scheduled for now, it would require a clear
example to trigger the bug on any config and somebody to investigate the
change to use

I have this problem as well, on Ubuntu 8.04.
Content-Types of some attachments I have observed without icons:
Content-Type: application/vnd.ms-powerpoint
Content-Transfer-Encoding: base64
Content-Type: image/jpeg
Content-Transfer-Encoding: base64

In all cases, the attachment icons are missing from the attachment area
that appears between the message header and body. The text in that area
indicates the correct number of attachments and has a Save button, but

I can confirm all the behavior.
Do not work when opening with double click, and do works with Load Images or
with Previous/Next.
In my case, it happens with PDF, DOC, MPP and TXT attachments.
Works OK with JPG attachments.

right, I noticed the link to some random website for the screenshots
that's not really pratical though so better to attach those to
launchpad, the number of mails you have is a small one and should create
issues, not sure why you get this issue while nobody else does

get the bug only if you open the mail by double clicking on it or also

I didn't have the preview option enabled. So I didn't check this before.
But I just tried it and in the Preview-Window I can see the icons, but
when I double-click an e-mail-message the icons are missing again until
I use CTRL+I to reload the images.
It's really a strange
