I've removed compiz from my 64bit Ubuntu workstation. Every upgrade/improvement has only made it worse. If I want to demo it to someone, I have it on my legacy 32bit Unbuntu workstation. I have upgraded to Ubuntu 8.10. Compiz still does not start on launch. I execute a script (attached) to start Compiz on dual monitors as a work-around.
