Does it do it when you choose to boot into Solaris, or always?
What is your /boot/grub/menu.lst file?
Which kernel did you update? Ubuntu or Solaris?

Sorry, bug can probably be closed because situation isn't that simple.
menu.lst was wrong (from before install of solaris) and that probably caused
the wrong grub installation.
So something went wrong but nothing reproducible. And solaris still doesn't
boot...

I'll probably boot from the solaris install cd because all clues I found on the
net don't bring solaris to boot.
