how does that help others (read: newbies like me) who read this later on? Should I report the bug again? Please let me know about the result from a memtest. Even if the machine works fine most of the time a bitflip error might cause this kind of error. I had the same failure while upgrading from hardy to intrepid. My hardware runs perfectly well, so I wonder what causes this. Any ideas? Here is what is causing the error: Unpacking replacement libgl1-mesa-dri ...^M dpkg: error processing /var/cache/apt/archives/libgl1-mesa-dri_7.0.3~rc2-1ubuntu3_i386.deb (--unpack):^M corrupted filesystem tarfile - corrupted package archive^M dpkg-deb: subprocess paste killed by signal (Broken pipe)^M It looks like there is something wrong with the filesystem or the RAM of your computer. Could you please run a memtester and a filesystem check.
