[Bug 246099] Re: Screen corruption while scrolling gnome-system-monitor process list
It's back, albeit on a different machine, GPU and Ubuntu version Ubuntu: 9.10 Driver: nvidia 185.18.36 Hardware: nvidia GeForce 8400 GS Seriously, is there any point in commenting on this ticket given it was first raised 3.5 years ago and is still a problem? [Bug 246099] Re: Screen corruption while scrolling gnome-system-monitor process list
This is a bug for me. My configuration is a Dell Latitude D800 using NVIDIA proprietary driver version 96. I tend to get horrible scrolling performance in any Firefox that is graphically rich (or maybe that's Adobe Flash doing that) , but nothing that corrupts like this. System Monitor: 2.26.0.1 running on Jaunty 9.04. Previously 8.10 was equally bad. -- Screen corruption while scrolling gnome-system-monitor process list https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/246099 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
Re: [Bug 246099] Re: Screen corruption while scrolling gnome-system-monitor process list
Hi Phil, this is not a solution to this bug, but what about trying the nouveau driver? It's opensource from scratch and is included in Jaunty. Too bad up to now 3D is not supported, but if you use 2D-only stuff like me, I think you'll be quite happy. I'm using it on a couple of PCs and so far I'm very happy, no issues found. And it solved also some screen corruption issues I was having before with nv and close driver. Thirded - not fixed for me as well. I'm running an up-to-date Hardy setup (see my post above). I concur - this is not fixed. Problem still exists in Intrepid with: Driver: nvidia 177.82 Hardware: nvidia GeForce 8300 GS Like the previous post, I don't experience this problem on other nvidia hardware, namely a GeForce 8400 M and GeForce 8600 GT. Not sure if this is useful, but the following unrelated performance fix from http://www.nvnews.net/vbulletin/showthread.php?t=115916 seems to temporarily alleviate the problem: nvidia-settings -a InitialPixmapPlacement=2 -a GlyphCache=1 -- Screen corruption while scrolling gnome-system-monitor process list https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/246099 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 246099] Re: Screen corruption while scrolling gnome-system-monitor process list
Can we reopen this bug? It is still an issue for me (has been for awhile.) It happens in a variety of programs (Firefox mostly.) It happens after I have had the system running for a long while (on the order of a few days.) nvidia driver 177.82 on a 8300GS. Hi Teej, sorry for not giving info anymore, I forgot about that. The problem is definitely fixed, no more issues now! I can say that up to me, this is solved both in Hardy and Intrepid. [Bug 246099] Re: Screen corruption while scrolling gnome-system-monitor process list
Same problem here with a Dell Inspiron 8100 (Hardy installation, nvidia GeForce2 Go, using nvidia's proprietary drivers). I don't know if this is useful or not, but some corruption also happens with lists in Nicotine+ (Downloads, Search, etc.). It's not nearly as bad as the sort in System Monitor, though. Maybe the fact that the System Monitor list refreshes often is the cause. No list corruption happens on my desktop, also using Hardy with nvidia's proprietary drivers. The desktop may use the -new driver package from nvidia; I'm not sure. It has a GeForce 6800GT. -- Screen corruption while scrolling gnome-system-monitor process list https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/246099 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 246099] Re: Screen corruption while scrolling gnome-system-monitor process list
I believe it is NVidia drivers - Once I upgraded from Onboard to a Geforce, the corruption started. Beforehand, it was fine. Also, my old Dell laptop (equipped with a Geforce Go) had the same problems once upgraded to Hardy (but worked fine under Gutsy) ** Attachment added: Screenshot-System Monitor.png http://launchpadlibrarian.net/17107828/Screenshot-System%20Monitor.png -- Screen corruption while scrolling gnome-system-monitor process list https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/246099 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
