[Bug 247487] Re: Installer freeze on Asus P5Q while examining harddisks (step 4)

2013-06-05 Thread Klonos
Still an issue in 13.04 / 12.10 / 12.04 :/

Please let me know how I can help solve this.

PS: The only thing that works is to install from a USB optical drive.

PPS: How do I change the issue status back to new? It seems I don't
have the permission to do so.

2009-05-11 Thread Brad Figg
Unfortunately it seems this bug is still an issue. Can you confirm this
issue exists with the most recent Jaunty Jackalope 9.04 release -
http://www.ubuntu.com/news/ubuntu-9.04-desktop . Please let us know
your results. Thanks.

I have this motherboard with an internal SATA cdrom and SATA drives.
I've successfully installed both Intrepid as well as Jaunty on it
without issue.

[Bug 247487] Re: Installer freeze on Asus P5Q while examining harddisks (step 4)

2008-08-28 Thread Leann Ogasawara
The Ubuntu Kernel Team is planning to move to the 2.6.27 kernel for the
upcoming Intrepid Ibex 8.10 release. As a result, the kernel team would
appreciate it if you could please test this newer 2.6.27 Ubuntu kernel.
There are one of two ways you should be able to test:

1) If you are comfortable installing packages on your own, the linux-
image-2.6.27-* package is currently available for you to install and
test.

--or--

2) The upcoming Alpha5 for Intrepid Ibex 8.10 will contain this newer
2.6.27 Ubuntu kernel. Alpha5 is set to be released Thursday Sept 4.
Please watch http://www.ubuntu.com/testing for Alpha5 to be announced.
You should then be able to test via a LiveCD.

Please let us know immediately if this newer 2.6.27 kernel resolves the
bug reported here or if the issue remains. More importantly, please
open a new bug report for each new bug/regression introduced by the
2.6.27 kernel and tag the bug report with 'linux-2.6.27'. Also, please
specifically note if the issue does or does not appear in the 2.6.26
kernel. Thanks again, we really appreicate your help and feedback.

Complete system hangs like this are typically kernel bugs rather than
installer bugs, so reassigning to linux.

That said, you might be able to work around the problem by using the
alternate install CD (thereby tickling a different set of bugs).

2008-07-14 Thread kaiszy
Hi!

I get it installed when i do the following:

Attach a USB-DVD-Rom to to computer an Boot the Ubuntu-Installcd from
it. Then the Installer doesn't crash. I try also with kubuntu to see if
this works: Same effect (witu usb-dvdrom: Yes, from the internal
attached dvd-rom: Freeze). Also i try to install debian netinstall
(4.x)...without attached dvdrom the instaler say's, that there is no dvd
to install from installed...with usb-dvdrom it works.

This evening i attach logfiles to thuis report (it's my computer at home
;)

Thanks for your afford!

Best regards,
  Kai.

Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make
Ubuntu better. This bug did not have a package associated with it, which
is important for ensuring that it gets looked at by the proper
developers. You can learn more about finding the right package at
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Bugs/FindRightPackage. I have classified this
bug as a bug in ubiquity.
