I've just uploaded a new 8.543 version of -fglrx to Intrepid which now should
work with xserver 1.5. Would you mind testing this new version and reporting
back whether this issue is still present? If it is, it would be helpful if you
could (re-)post your Xorg.0.log from
i would test it, but the issue has stopped now. =] As i stated
aboveno i disabled it from using it. system-administration-hardware
drivers. I unchecked ati video driver. Restarted. Then it did not do it.
Now this is what is weird.I rechecked it again, and rebooted, and
now it does not do
reassigning to fglrx since that's the driver creating the issue

After disabling my video driver, everything is fine now! Thank you so
much! I no longer experience the issue. Ubuntu went back to its default
driver and I am no longer experiencing the hang at login. Thanks for
helping me with this issue.

how did you enable the ati driver? if that's the version distributed in
ubuntu the bug should be reassigned there

like i said i only get when waiting more then 5 minutes at the log in
screen..i know it happened yesterday around 4pm, and the day before
that at 6pm i think. Does that help? How do i not use the fglrx video
driver? haha i am new to this so instructions will be helpful. :) I have

yes, i still get the issue. I remember when i didn't not even have
firestarter installed and it still did it.at fist i thought this was
a security feature or something to keep hackers from having the time to
hack into ubuntu at the log in screen. Then i realized to myself that

ya i can do that. i tried to switch when the bug occurred. it did not
work. completely frozen.

when did you get the bug? the logs have quite some activity so knowing when was
the issue would be a good indication
could you also try if you get that when not using the fglrx video driver? and
do you have an another computer you could use to ssh to this one when it freeze
to see if it's
