Complete system freezes like this are not a problem with Wine itself (or
its audio drivers); Wine runs as a user-level application, and shouldn't
be able to cause a complete system crash unless it is simply exposing a
driver problem - in this case in your video card.

I understand it, but the audio driver has been set up automatically and

want to underline that no-steam edition of Counter-Strike and steamed

usually due to a driver bug rather than a Wine bug, almost always in the
video card. What video card are you using?

I confirm it in Ubuntu 8.10. Thanks for the hotkey - I'll try it. I have
no problems with patched no-steam version of Counter-Strike and Half-
Life running under Steam.
