The attached file is now rendering fine in Karmic Koala 9.10 with all
the latest updates.

I can confirm it for Evince using version 2.22.2 with Ubuntu 8.04 amd64
and also for xpdf 3.02. Many characters are not displayed. The same
happens with kpdf 0.5.9 that's based on xpdf. Acroread displays it well
on my system too.
