Dear rfurgy,
I think that we should use 'mono-runtime' instead of 'mono-2.0-devel' in
file "debian/control".
I have installed "mono-runtime", and I have not installed 'mono-2.0-devel'.
GnomeArtNG works well on my Ubuntu Karmic :)

I managed to recompile gnomeartng-0.7.0.deb and get it to properly
install into Ubuntu 9.10 Karmic Beta.
I first tried to install with gnomeartng-0.7.0.deb downloaded from here:
http://developer.berlios.de/project/showfiles.php?group_id=9184&release_id=16491
That left me without success because of
