I am unable to print from open office,
I have the same problem here on Ubuntu 8.04. When I try to print from
oowriter, the document gets put in the queue but with the status held.
If I right click and choose release, it goes quickly back to held and
nothing is printed. Incidentally, I cannot print from Evince but I can
from Acrobat
gpagnon, would you also please post your log file as per comment 3? Then
we can better understand out issues. :)
Thanks!

Problems with Brother printers and openoffice.org seem to always crop up
and generally the only printer issues that I can recall are using
Brother printers, is this a cupsys issue or something with a driver the
user got from somewhere else?

When you say nothing happens, do you mean that the document doesn't even
get put into the printing que? (the printing icon does not appear in in
the system tray with a document to print)
Would you please post some log files that might help track down the issue? This
is a file where CUPS writes
