Public bug reported: Binary package hint: gnome-control-center
When playing full-screen games, if there is a crash in the game, it is not uncommon to end up in X with the resolution used by the game. For those of us with limited 3D accelleration, this is often 640x480. The simple solution to restore the normal desktop is to open display properties and reset the resoluton to the correct value. Unfortunately, it is impossible to see the buttons at 640x480, so the user is forced to guess. Logging out and logging back in is not a useful workaround, because it may save the session, and corrupt user configuration of the panel icons. Stopping applications manually and hard-killing X is not a useful workaround because the user may not be able to access some applications (painted offscreen), and may well lose interesting data (e.g. notifications, various message protocols, state of long-running shell jobs in terminals, etc.). ** Affects: gnome-control-center (Ubuntu) Importance: Low Status: New ** Changed in: gnome-control-center (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided => Low -- The Display Properties applet should scale to fit in 640x480 https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/289016 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
