This problem (bug, imo) still exists in Ubuntu 9.04.
I, as well, have tried all of the above suggestions to no avail.

This isnt caused by firefox since i have no problem logging into my
myspace or a few other myspaces that friends let me try.

thats a plugin not an extension ... you find extensions in tools -
addons dialog

Sounds like you have cookies disabled. Try checking in
Edit-Preferences-Privacy and under Cookies, there should be an Accept
cookies type of thing. Make sure that is checked.

Okay, I only had one extension on: Ubuntu Firefox Modifications
0.6. I turned it off and restarted Firefox, but it still didn't work.
I also messed with disabling plug-ins, but that didn't help either. I
think the problem is because I still can't get flash completely working.

firefox extensions are the cause for the majority of bugs reported
against firefox.
To check that the bug you are seeing is actually a firefox one (and not
an extension one), please disable your extensions one-by-one (restart
firefox in between) until there is either no enabled extension
