Lilo gets installed on dist-upgrades, due to the kernel image recommending
it. Is this intentional?

grub" but if grub is installed why does update manager install lilo?

I don't understand Juan's comment, or why this was marked "fix
released". No, this bug is not present in 8.10. It's present in 9.04 as
the description indicates. Since 9.04 > 8.10, this is still a bug and
still needs fixing.

I also got lilo installed even though I've been using grub all the time
in intrepid etc.

same here on my amd64 sys , in mycase it requested I run the post install
script before reboot but otherwise completed the install .
I purged it before reboot .
