[Bug 296574] Re: package memtest86+ 1.70-3ubuntu1 failed to install/upgrade: unable to make backup link of `./boot/memtest86+.bin' before installing new version: Operation not permitted
*** This bug is a duplicate of bug 252900 *** https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/252900 Thanks for your feedback. Jon, you /boot is bound to /host which is of type vfat . vfat doesn't handle symlinks. A solution is to convert it to ntfs. This has already been reported in bug 252900 and it is being marked as duplicate. Please look at the other bug report to see if there is any missing information that you can provide, or to see if there is a workaround for the bug. Additionally, any further discussion regarding the bug should occur in the other report. Feel free to continue to report any other bugs you may find. ** Changed in: memtest86+ (Ubuntu) Status: Incomplete => Confirmed ** This bug has been marked a duplicate of bug 252900 vfat : wubi 8.04.1-rev506 kernel upgrade fails -- package memtest86+ 1.70-3ubuntu1 failed to install/upgrade: unable to make backup link of `./boot/memtest86+.bin' before installing new version: Operation not permitted https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/296574 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

No, I have a separate partition for Ubuntu (and Windows XP on the other partition). On Mon, Nov 24, 2008 at 2:55 AM, Jean-Baptiste Lallement < [EMAIL PROTECTED]> wrote: > Thanks for your report.
