Exact same issue for me. Happens intermittently.Seems to effect all
apps that produce sound an this makes it go away:

Hi!
There is an easy way to test: Go to Tools | Preferences | Sounds and set
it to No Sounds. If it still hangs after that, it is another bug. So,
please test that heysean :)

ive received the same error using multiple protocols aswell, i'm unsure
what causes the issue however a temporary working solution is just to
mute your sound
