Are there any updates to report on this issue, I installed Intrepid last night, fully patched and am running MC8780 and getting the same instant disconnects and failures in KPPP and wvdial. has anyone managed to find their way through this ? [Bug 299327] Re: NetworkManager does not work with ATT Mercury aircard
No luck whatsoever. It did pretty much exactly the same thing as 4. After an entire week of persistence, I resigned to dual booting xp until such time as the card is fully supported. :/ I can live with that, but it is a pain in the rear. -- NetworkManager does not work with ATT Mercury aircard https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/299327 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

Did you ever get it to work with 3.5? -- NetworkManager does not work with ATT Mercury aircard https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/299327 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 299327] Re: NetworkManager does not work with ATT Mercury aircard
I will second seeing this behavior. I have a friend who has a Toshiba laptop and a Sierra Wireless 881 USB network adapter. Last year I set him up with 7.10, using KPPP and the settings recommended from a Sierra Wireless guide on their site. Worked like a champ. Looking to upgrade him to 8.10 and so I was going to test it out with a livecd. Network Manager saw the device and had an option to Configure the GSM device. I said to configure, followed the Wizard and tried all 3 options (AT$T, Tethering and High Speed Tethering) with no success. The only difference that I could see in the configuration of the 3 options was the user name used to login. As soon as I would select the connection in Network Manager it would almost immediately disconnect. I would love to get this working so I can upgrade him and make his like easier for connecting. If there are any commands that would be valuable to see run let me know. I would have to get together with him but I am sure that can be arranged. Thanks.
Beyond NetworkManager, I've tried getting it to run through GnomePPP, KPPP (according specifically to the directions given by Sierra Wireless), and just by calling on the the specific device in a terminal using pppd directly. No luck, really. I'm at a total loss as to what to do, or even try next. -- NetworkManager does not work with ATT Mercury aircard https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/299327 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
Re: [Bug 299327] Re: NetworkManager does not work with ATT Mercury aircard
I did see some posts where the new KPPP was not playing very nice. The only work around was to use 3.5 instead of 4. Hopefully it is something simple to fix in NM. I have used a CDMA card with the new NM and it is awesome so I had very high hopes for the GSM setup. [Bug 299327] Re: NetworkManager does not work with ATT Mercury aircard
I had very high hopes for the new network-manager that were shot down the second I plugged in my aircard. As far as the KPPP solution goes, I was using 4. I'll give 3.5 a try and see what ends up happening. Wish me luck! :) -- NetworkManager does not work with ATT Mercury aircard https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/299327 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
