Please close this bug - the problem lies with Sprint in that they transparently proxy all DNS requests and redirect them to their own servers, regardless of client computer configuration. They even spoof the address of the server you've chosen in the replies - nasty behavior indeed. I just tested the same scenario against Intrepid with the 2.6.27-9 kernel and get the same results. Please ignore comment above with sierrawireless.com link.
