@jperl and sqj Just had some other software in my PPA which conflicted with building a kile that can actually run on intrepid. I got rid of that now, so a new kile package for intrepid is there when it finishes building. @sqj kdvi is an kde3 application, so could be that it is part of the problem; in jaunty okular will be the default dvi-viewer instead. -- kile random crash losing data https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/308246 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

@Andreas, Thank you very much for your effort! Some days ago, I update my kile from 2.0 to 2.1 (under ubuntu 8.10) from your source: deb http://ppa.launchpad.net/andreas-wenning/ppa/ubuntu intrepid main and it works fine, but I have some new problem. If I use the inverse search between kile and kdvi for more than 3 times, then I lose control of kile, which means the window of kile shifts to left or right often. [Bug 308246] Re: kile random crash losing data
I've attached a sample tex file to produce the bug. Go to the end of the file, hit Ctrl+S every time you hit enter at the enf of the file. Kile will crash after 20 times or even only 3 times. I tested three times: the first time it crashed is after 30 hits, the second one after 20 hits, the third one after 3 hits. The tex file lost its content after almost every crash. In the last time, I lost nearly all the file from 1035 lines to 98 lines of tex (lost the remaining lines). It seems to crash during the writing to the disk. It happened to my two different tex files. In my first document, it crashed every 3 hits but no content lost (during this time the tex file is stil small). However, the last time I lost many lines some where in the middle of the file (the ps output of the total pages before the crash is about 6 pages). Thus, I decided to quit using Kile. In the test document, I lost the content every time it crashed (the pdf output of the orginal file is 28 pages). ** Attachment added: algorithmicx.tex http://launchpadlibrarian.net/20725102/algorithmicx.tex -- kile random crash losing data https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/308246 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Kubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to kile in ubuntu. -- kubuntu-bugs mailing list kubuntu-b...@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/kubuntu-bugs

It is hard to attach a file kile does not write to disk. The error happens after changeing the file, so its probably caused by the change which is not saved. regarding libkparts.so: $ ls -al /usr/lib/libkparts.so lrwxrwxrwx 1 root root 14 2008-11-14 18:42 /usr/lib/libkparts.so - libkparts.so.4 $ ls -al /usr/lib/libkparts.so.2 lrwxrwxrwx 1 root root 18 2008-10-31 00:41 /usr/lib/libkparts.so.2 - libkparts.so.2.1.0 $ ls -al /usr/lib/libkparts.so.4 lrwxrwxrwx 1 root root 18 2008-11-14 18:42 /usr/lib/libkparts.so.4 - libkparts.so.4.1.0 $ ls -al /usr/lib/libkparts.so.4.1.0 -rw-r--r-- 1 root root 252972 2008-11-12 11:06 /usr/lib/libkparts.so.4.1.0 $ dpkg -S /usr/lib/libkparts.so.4.1.0 kdelibs5: /usr/lib/libkparts.so.4.1.0 $ apt-cache show kdelibs5 Package: kdelibs5 Architecture: i386 Source: kde4libs Version: 4:4.1.2-0ubuntu10 Grüße, Michael -- kile random crash losing data https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/308246 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 308246] Re: kile random crash losing data
Hi, could you attach a minimal tex file which triggers the crash? @ubuntu-devs: The lines #10 0xb5ac8284 in KateDocument::saveFile () from /usr/lib/kde3/libkatepart.so #11 0xb77aeab8 in KParts::ReadWritePart::save () from /usr/lib/libkparts.so.2 look for me suspicous. Kile 2.0.x does only depend on the KDE3 libraries. Can it be the case that some KDE4 lib is here involved? On my debian etch with KDE3 only I get: tho...@thomas:/tmp$locate libkpart /usr/lib/libkparts.so.2 /usr/lib/libkparts.so /usr/lib/libkparts.so.2.1.0 /usr/lib/libkparts.la bye, thomas (kile dev team) -- kile random crash losing data https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/308246 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Kubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to kile in ubuntu. -- kubuntu-bugs mailing list kubuntu-b...@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/kubuntu-bugs
