Public bug reported: Ever since upgrading to Intrepid (from Hardy) my laptop takes 75 minutes to boot, unless I press and hold the return key at each screen pause.
After continuing from the first pause the following warning is displayed: Clocksource tsc unstable (delta = 4398046171107 ns) I believe that to be significant, being that is over 73 minutes! That also happens to be how long it take to boot unattended. In particular, it pauses for about 6 minutes each *after* the following lines are echoed. PATA max UDMA/133 cmd 0x170 ctl 0x376 bmdma 0x30c8 irq 15 (which is immediately before the following line) ata1.00: ATAPI: Optiarc DVD RW AD-7530B, NH02, max MWDMA2 (which is before: "ata1: nv_mode_filter: 0x39f&0x39f->0x39f, BIOS=0x0 (0xc700) ACPI=0x39f (120:600:0x12)") forcedeth 0000:00:0a.0: PCI INT A -> Link[LMAC] -> GSI 20 (level, low) -> IRQ 20 (which is before: "forcedeth 0000:00:0a.0: PCI INT A -> Link[LMAC] -> GSI 20 (level, low) -> IRQ 20") It pauses for about 9 minutes after the following line is echoed: Uniform CD-ROM driver Revision: 3.20 (which is before: "sr 0:0:0:0: Attached scsi CD-ROM sr0") It pauses for about 9 minutes after the following adjacent lines are echoed: ata3.00: configured for UDMA/133 ata4: SATA link down (SStatus 0 SControl 300) ata5: SATA link down (SStatus 0 SControl 300) (which is before: "ata6: SATA link down (SStatus 0 SControl 300)") After that is makes several pauses with prompts that are not written to dmesg. I was unable to write them them all before the boot resumed. This problem is occurs whether clocksource is either acpi_ps, hpet, or tsc. System specifications follow inline below. I've provided menu.lst, snippets of syslog, as well as the outputs of "lspci -vvnn" and "dmesg" as attachments (all sanitized).
