Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: flashplugin-nonfree

The new kernel in Intrepid, 2.6.27-11, finally detects my microphone correctly
which is integrated into my monitor with a webcam. I can now record sound in
Sound Recorder, but still cannot broadcast sound on www.ustream.tv
On ustream it shows "Linux Microphone" under Audio Source but no sound is
picked up.

I ran the utils_alsa-info script as described in
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/DebuggingSoundProblems and my info was uploaded here:
http://www.alsa-project.org/db/?f=30d230ae03655e58976806e13f9c5adb13269d7c

The behavior I am experiencing is the same as bug 301140 bug with
different hardware and in i686 instead of x86_64 architecture. Please
do not mark as duplicate unless you are sure it is. Thanks!
