Thanks. I've checked the CD integrity as described in your first link
and there were no errors found. I did this on the machine showing the
problem.
I no longer have the ISO file I used to burn the CD.

Update - I've just installed the 64-bit version twice in a row, so my
cdrom drive is fine.
