[Bug 335363] Re: e2fsprogs corrupts ext4 partitions when resizing
Apparently this was a SAN issue that didn't force a ro on this filesystem. I noted the issues later and remounted this filesystem and then it was able to resize online. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/335363 Title: e2fsprogs corrupts ext4 partitions when resizing -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 335363] Re: e2fsprogs corrupts ext4 partitions when resizing
A backport for to installed systems would be incredibly useful. e2fslibs and e2fsprogs from karmic seem to install fine on a 9.04 system; is there any reason not to just use those packages? It looks like the System Rescue CD has an appropriate version of e2fsprogs available, so that's also available in the meantime. http://www.sysresccd.org/Detailed-packages-list -- e2fsprogs corrupts ext4 partitions when resizing https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/335363 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 335363] Re: e2fsprogs corrupts ext4 partitions when resizing
I tried e2fsprogs some time ago from karmic: the only problem was that fsck wasn't implemented (I had to enter the appropriate command directly, eg fsck.ext4). -- e2fsprogs corrupts ext4 partitions when resizing https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/335363 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 335363] Re: e2fsprogs corrupts ext4 partitions when resizing
I think the outcome is serious enough (ie a trashed partition) that it warrants a backport, at least for installed systems if not the install CDs. It might be argued that most people using the install CDs won't have ext4 partitions to resize yet since it only became available with Jaunty. -- e2fsprogs corrupts ext4 partitions when resizing https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/335363 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 335363] Re: e2fsprogs corrupts ext4 partitions when resizing
Indeed, this should be fixed in Karmic; as a rule we don't tend to backport major changes like this to released images, especially since the primary place you do resizing is in the installer and that would mean remastering CDs ** Changed in: e2fsprogs (Ubuntu) Status: Confirmed = Fix Released -- e2fsprogs corrupts ext4 partitions when resizing https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/335363 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
