Just incase some people were wondering where to put the audio:
[EMAIL PROTECTED]:~$ strace civclient-gtk 21 |grep stdsounds
stat64(./stdsounds.soundspec, 0xbfb94fd0) = -1 ENOENT (No such file or
directory)
stat64(data/stdsounds.soundspec, 0xbfb94fd0) = -1 ENOENT (No such file or
directory)
And i should have said - you take the files out of the data directory, you dont
move the data directory itself :)

Erm, just being freely available isn't sufficient, they have to be free-
as-in-speech to get into universe. Even for multiverse the license has
to allow redistribution, and it's not clear that's the case here. (See
http://www.ubuntu.com/community/ubuntustory/licensing - I think the
conditions for
Hm...but that soundpack can be downloaded from freeciv's FTP...so I think
theres no problem with that... :-|

The GTK client (freeciv-client-gtk) at least finds the fonts, and loads
properly. However, it still reports:
Cannot find sound spec-file stdsounds.
1: To get sound you need to download a sound set!

I can confirm the missing dependancy still in Edgy (version see below),
and i get the same 'no sounds' message.
