There have been many changes in Ubuntu since that time you reported the bug and your problem may have been fixed with some of the updates. It would help us a lot if you could test it on a currently supported Ubuntu version. Now i know how to reproduce it. 1. create new pop account. set it to leave messages on the server until i delete them. 2. download entire mailbox. 3. Fill all free space at your home mount point to 100% (probably copy several films or something.) Copy program should give you error message about no free space left 4. Send yourself new letter to account above. 5. Wait until thunderbird automatically checks mailbox. 6. Voila!
