Public bug reported:

I installed fglrx 8.600 using jockey on a current jaunty 32bit
installation. After shutting the system down and starting the laptop (hp
elitebook 8530p) again, I get a black screen instead if GDMs login
screen. The laptop freezes; it's not even possible to log in via ssh
from remote. I tried to alter xorg.conf using aticonfig, but I keep
getting this black screen.

Graphics card: 01:00.0 VGA compatible controller: ATI Technologies Inc Mobility
Radeon HD 3650
Kernel: 2.6.28-11-generic

I'm attaching my xorg.conf, Xorg.0.log, kernel.log and messages
(something seems to happen with the kernel module) of a failed attempt.

Side note: This black screen appeared with every fglrx release from
ati.com released after Intrepid. (I didn't try those before). The only
release working on this laptop I know of is the "beta" (or whatever this
was, for 1.5 ABI compatibility) release for Intrepid. Thus I'm also
adding an Xorg.0.log from my working Intrepid setup. Of course, this is
with a different fglrx version.

** Affects: fglrx-installer (Ubuntu)
