I don't think the packagers understand how important these man pages are
since this bug has been open without any official comment for over a
year.

The official manual pages are located at
ftp://ftp.sgi.com/sgi/opengl/doc/ in the mangl.tar.Z, manglu.tar.Z and
manglx.tar.Z files. I don't see any problem with distributing them. Is
it that difficult to create a deb out of them and add it to the
repository?

Not that I'm keen on Me too posts but me too!
I do remember them being in Debian before installing Dapper. Is there
any reason why Dapper's packages are built without?

A little investigation reveals that upstream Mesa, from sourceforge via
mesa3d.org, doesn't contain them either and presumabely never did. My
Debian installation used xorg but it may have had the odd xfree package
laying around which contained these elusive manpages. I must confess I
have no idea.
(bump) C'mon, how difficult can it be to add a new package with the man
pages, or to include them in an already existing package. This BUG is
pretty serious if you are a developer, and it seems to me that Linux has
always been very attractive to developers/programmers, dont forget your
base users.
