[Bug 368375] Re: error: No PPD found for model officejet_pro_l7700
Thanks to Daniel González Gasull : I had the same problem with a HP PSC 1215 all in one, and the cups restart helped find the PPD file! So, yes, it helped, and thanks a lot again! -- error: No PPD found for model officejet_pro_l7700 https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/368375 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 368375] Re: error: No PPD found for model officejet_pro_l7700
I had this problem and I found that it was actually cause by my cups server being down. If you run sudo /etc/init.d/cups restart then hp-setup will work and find the PPD file for my printer. Hope this helps. -- error: No PPD found for model officejet_pro_l7700 https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/368375 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

Please check test this bug on karmic alpha5. ** Changed in: hplip (Ubuntu) Status: New = Incomplete -- error: No PPD found for model officejet_pro_l7700 https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/368375 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 368375] Re: error: No PPD found for model officejet_pro_l7700
I booted to the Alpha 5 Karmic live CD: 729298944 2009-09-05 08:07 karmic-desktop-i386.iso and found synaptic reporting HPLIP version 3.9.8, as does hp-info (see attached). The live CD found the printer, identified and set it up correctly (with minor glitches noted below). One major glitch is that there does not appear to be a way to print a test page from the GUI admin tool. Nor does the CUPS server have a test page facility. I was able to print one by finding a test page (using find / -iname *.ps) and using lp to print the results. I think this is a mistake: not everyone knows to do what I did. What package do I report that under? Minor glitches: * The test page was off by a vertical inch. * The printer setup came up set to a4. I know to check for stuff like that when etting up a printer. Is there a way to use localization data to set that automtically? * The printer setup came up shared and not published. I'm not sure what not published means (CUPS doesn't tell inquiring machines about it?), but being shared on boot sounds insecure to me. Especially on a live CD. In general, KK looks really nice; my compliments to everyone involved. [Bug 368375] Re: error: No PPD found for model officejet_pro_l7700
I found the place to print a test page, and when I did the vertical registration was fine. So there appears to be some disagreement between system-config-printer and lp as to vertical registration. With that, as far as I am concerned, you can close this bug. -- error: No PPD found for model officejet_pro_l7700 https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/368375 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

I don't have KK here and it may be a few weeks until I do. Now karmic have got hplip 3.9.4b. Can you check this bug now? -- error: No PPD found for model officejet_pro_l7700 https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/368375 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 368375] Re: error: No PPD found for model officejet_pro_l7700
Workaround: I installed HPLIP version 3.9.4b from the HP web site on Jaunty. It installed successfully and located and installed the printer correctly where the printer was plugged into that computer. I have not tried installing a remote printer with 3.9.4b. The installation process is straightforward. I don't think anyone should have any problems with it. The only down side is that apt, etc., report HPLIP version as hplip-3.9.2-3, the old version. Running hp-setup --help shows that the correct version is indeed installed. This could have implications for upgrades later on. http://hplipopensource.com/hplip-web/install/install/index.html -- error: No PPD found for model officejet_pro_l7700 https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/368375 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
