Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: linux-image-2.6.30-5-generic

Hello,

I have noticed that for quite some time since Hardy, the laptop lid
doesn't work anymore. It only responds once, with the screen locking and
disabling background light correctly. After that, it stops responding,
and the ACPI state of the lid doesn't change anymore, therefore making
this button useless.

I am using Ubuntu Karmic on my HP nx6310, Kernel 2.6.30-5-generic,
latest version of all packages.

This seems to be kernel related since compiling a custom kernel with "make
defconfig" solves the problem.
I sadly wasn't able to find the specific kernel option, maybe someone can help.

It may be a little security issue too, because some people may trust
Ubuntu locks the screen when closing the laptop, although it doesn't
because of the bug.
