As I'm not a developer, nor I have this problem anymore, I cannot help more
than asking you to provide details about your issue (which I've already
done) and waiting to see if a developer or someone who knows what this issue
might be related to, provides an answer or a workaround.

Hi, i'm fully up to date yes.
I did some playing around and found that by running sudo
/etc/init.d/restart stop it will restart. But this is as far as i have
got and i have no idea why running that script works(sort of)
I have an Advent 4123

what fix? i'm running 2.6.32-16-386 and i have the problem. I have
spent 3 months trying to fix this and i'm at wits end.
It really is a serious problem for people with laptops and netbooks!!

I am not experiencing this issue since I upgraded to 2.6.31-8. The fix was
released 4 months ago, so it should be fixed now.
Is your system fully upgraded?
Can you please provide details about your system? (Brand, model, the output
of the lspci, lsmod and dmesg commands)
