As I'm not a developer, nor I have this problem anymore, I cannot help more than asking you to provide details about your issue (which I've already done) and waiting to see if a developer or someone who knows what this issue might be related to, provides an answer or a workaround. I can only ask you to provide your /var/log/dmesg /var/log/dmesg. /var/log/syslog /var/log/syslog.1 files, to see if there is a hint about what process is preventing shutdown and reboot to complete. Hi, i'm fully up to date yes. I did some playing around and found that by running sudo /etc/init.d/restart stop it will restart. what fix? i'm running 2.6.32-16-386 and i have the problem. I have spent 3 months trying to fix this and i'm at wits end. It really is a serious problem for people with laptops and netbooks!! I am not experiencing this issue since I upgraded to 2.6.31-8. The fix was released 4 months ago, so it should be fixed now. Is your system fully upgraded? Can you please provide details about your system?
